Hardline piqueteros have announced for this week a wave of protest marches and roadblocks, in another bid to persuade the government to reinstate some of the subsidies it eliminated in July last year. The government has said it will not tolerate any violent actions and will keep the highways clear — and has reiterated that the subsidy cuts were a legitimate response to abuses.
